Radio Crystal Blue week of 1/5/15 news

This is the latest edition of my periodic news on behalf of Radio Crystal Blue, my weekly Internet-based freeform podcast.  Radio Crystal Blue continually masters the art of freeform radio, with music from top indie,
underground and touring artists from all across the Web and the Earth at large.
HOW TO LISTEN to older podcasts (before 12/14/14)
1: at http://www.radiocrystalblue.net/home , right-click on the link titled Click for PopUp Feed Player. That will display the audio player as a page on its own. Find the show you want to hear, click the Details tab to download the show or the play button on top to stream. There’s also an RSS feed button and a number of ways to share the audio player
2: My podcast provider: http://www.bigcontact.com/radiocrystalblu  Shows from these players are kept on the server for about 1 year. Currenly, all shows through the 12/7/14 one are available through this method.
3: http://www.archive.org Every show I do has its own podcast page URL. Shows here are kept in perpetuity. Just look for Radio Crystal Blue and Radio Crystal Blue Novus Ordo, then the date.  I use the Sunday date of the week.
All shows are updated on this page, including the 12/14/14 holiday edition.
4: Stitcher for iPod, iPhone or Android: http://www.stitcher.com/podcast/radio-crystal-blue,
As with BigContact, all shows through 12/7/14, not including 12/14/14, are updated here.
Radio Crystal Blue is free to share and listen, in accordance with Creative Commons License 4.0, full attribution, non-derivative, non-commercial. http://www.creativecommons.org

THE LATEST
Thanks for tuning into my Twitter timeline to learn about the Top 100 artists of 2014 among all that received airplay.   Congratulations go to Tom Principato as this year’s #1.  Tom and company generally perform in the Midatlantic states and sometimes in Europe.  I am hoping they will travel elsewhere around the US.     Tom and company are the first band to receive my #1 title.    Also of note, Red Molly‘s “The Red Album” deservedly took the title of Album Of The Year.   Hearing them with a drumset, and Ken Coomer of Wilco producing, their new sound is the sound I’ve longed to hear from them.     Antigone Rising‘s “Whiskey & Wine Volume 1” is my top EP for 2014.    There are other titles yet to be awarded; keep watch on the website, and specifically on the Chart page.
Today (Saturday), I begin my weekly cycle of planning out the next podcast, and contact those who are receiving airplay.
I am concerned that few CDs are being sent here at Radio Crystal Blue central.  Updated contact information for Radio Crystal Blue is on the Contact page.
Also, today, I’ve paid off to ensure that I’ll keep enough Web space for housing all the shows I’ve done in the last year. There’s just enough for 1 year’s worth.
I still have not made progress in accessing the RSS feed so that I can change it and update the FeedPlayers. This also affects the Stitcher app the shows normally appear on.  If you want older shows when I remove them from the server, please access the direct podcast pages for each show at http://www.archive.org  When I post the playlists of each show through social media and my website, there is a URL generated for  each show.
I’m honestly not sure what’s up with BigContact. They are the reason I have continued to make these shows accessible at all.  Ideally I’d like a podcast RSS host that can be supportive and functional for the long term. If you have ideas on whom I should go with, please let me know.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
I focus on CDs as opposed to downloads, though I make exceptions in the event of albums that are digital releases only. Music must have been released within the last 6 months of my next show’s publishing week (week of 1/5/15) All new albums debut on RCB Novus Ordo; on rare exception, some debut on Radio Crystal Blue proper. I’m also interested in featuring, great compilation or soundtrack albums track-for-track, to help tell the story of those album (see above).
EPK (Electronic press kits) submissions can be sent via one of these companies:

THE LATEST
For the 3rd year running, I will host a Twitter event, my Top 100 Artist Countdown.  The work is finally done. As of this typing, I have completed the quarterly and annual charts, ranking the top artists you’ve heard all during the year. My rankings are based on progressive amounts of airplay, along with some emphasis on artists I have interacted with at shows or through interviews. More weight is applied to the latest months than the earliest, in a rolling 3- and 12-month pattern.
The event will launch at 10am PT (1pm ET) on Monday 12/29.  I will post the rankings in individual tweets every so often during the day. I will also call (as in, phone) the artist that wins the #1 ranking.  I will also fill in the subsidiary charts that rank Best New Artist, Top 10 CDs of the year, etc., on the Chart page.    Who do you think will be #1? Will Vance Gilbert make it 3 years out of 4? Will a band finally reach the pinnacle? Will Aztec Two Step repeat?  Use the hashtag #radiocbluetop100
Take a good look at the Chart page…it will be all different shortly: www.radiocrystalblue.net/chart
As hinted on Twitter, I will soon have available a show from the summer of 2004. That show will be available via the Internet Archive.
I have been unable to successfully login to BigContact, the folks that own my RSS feed. The feed is fine as it is. I wonder if I should build a 2nd one. In the meanwhile, shows will continue to be available at www.archive.org
RCB REWIND: The annotated version of the shows.
The final show for the year revealed a slight change in tradition; some of the classic holiday songs I spun this year were ones I hadn’t aired before.  I was watching Pluto TV’s holiday channel and saw Billy Idol’s “Yellin’ At The Christmas Tree” and knew it had to be included (hey, maybe I’ll add Ramones next year).  I interviewed multi-genre multi-instrumentallist/songwriter DJ Flowerdove. I let her play DJ, and she suggested the brand-spanking-new Lorraine Leckie album, which I duly aired a track of. Thanks go to these artists that submitted brand new original holiday songs: Suzie Brown (with hubby Scott Sax), Dan Miraldi, Shawn Amos, MJ Hibbett & The Validators (see their Christmas Box on Bandcamp for more), Daniel Christian, Esther Golden, Emily Pinkerton.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
