PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about January 13 and will be available for
about 1 year. Remember, even if you miss hearing a show the week I record,
you can always find it within the FeedPlayer’s archive of older shows. Owing
to schedule demands, I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon as possible
thereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top
indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands.

Each week through my January shows I’m airing tracks from The 1861 Project,
a series that touches upon the Civil War experience. We’re up to Volume 2:
From The Famine To The Front. This collection of original music recalls
those families with Scottish and Irish ties who fought in the war. From the
liner notes “Every singer, player and writer on this album has a strong
connection to Ireland, by ancestry, birth, or just by heart”. More about
this fascinating series at www.1861project.com

RCB REVIEW (the annotated version):
RCB Novus Ordo: Veteran songwriter Tracy Newman (& The Reinforcements) kick off 2013 with the title song from her newest. Matthew Perryman Jones with a hard-driving song on this show. War Poets do likewise with a concept CD that I’m still figuring out.
RCB proper: Traditional New Year’s segment plays upon the war angle and segues into the bleakness of winter itself. First time airing The Cure in this segment. Segment 1: Ryan Tennis and Levee Drivers are part of the City Of Love Festival at Electric Factory here in Philly on 1/12. Aired another new tune from Ryan’s excellent album, which I ranked #2 of 2012. Debuted new album from Family Cave, who have a Wilco/folk thing going on. Segment 2 reintroduces Schwervon! with another new tune, and likewise from Late Cambrian whose song is part of a forthcoming new album. Segment 3: Country/bluegrass reigns here, with ensembles Roosevelt Dime (NYC) and Molasses Creek (NC). Segment 4: Somewhat jazz oriented culminating in a trio of female songwriters. This week, Jenee Halstead shared several shows with Suzie Brown across the Northeast. One such show, The Outer Space in Hamden CT included Daphne Lee Martin. Suzie makes her RCB debut here.
Earlier in the week I had reported my strong interest in attending some gigs. That’s just before I fell quite ill, experiencing a malady that felt much like what I experienced a year ago, tho without nervous spasms. I canceled my plans, stayed in bed, picked up a new online TV habit in the process, meditated (and medicated) with tea and self-sympathy…and waited.
I’m just now on the flipside of this illness. I’m not sure what it is. I do know it’s something that may very well be related to acid reflux. I am also under a good deal of stress now. I’ve nearly decided on keeping to a 1 year lease to keep me in Philly for one more year. Also I’ve had to pay some large bills and the $ is not flowing as well in as nearly as it is going out. On top of that, a job interview is in my view on Monday.

COVERAGE:Several times a month I go out to Philly-area gigs to do photos,
some video, and a write-up on my website afterward. I do this for free, tho
at some point in the future I might want to barter this work or be simply
paid.

As stated above, I had to clear much of my show-going schedule. All is subject to change pending my health.
