PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about November 13 and will be available for about 1 year. I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon as possible thereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands. RCB Novus Ordo is a separate podcast with 8-10 songs, one each from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you the backstory of each artist.
I will also air more music from “Esperanza: Songs From Jack Kerouac’s ‘Tristessa’
___
Away from radio, I’m busier with job interviews and money matters. Every day, I feel closer to finding work. Another way of seeing it suggests I’m a day closer to eviction proceedings. I choose to balance everything out and fully intend on the most positive learning experience from every situation. I give attention only to the forward progress of my chosen path. That path includes putting energy into my creations, especially this program. It’s wonderful to get such good feedback from people, sometimes from the artists themselves. The reality of the situation (my reality, ultimately) is that I must raise enough $ to keep myself living here, and to have the means beyond that to get the rest of my life in order and do a radio program. As mentioned up top, you can go to www.radiocrystalblue.net to donate to the cause. The attitude remains focused and vigilant above all. All I can ever want is your assistance to see me through this situation, as you have done before.

It’s good to have the PC back as I am reclaiming some lost downloads and download codes, plus getting a better sense of the RCB rotation as things stand.

My vision is still intact. It’s what I’d do if money truly were no object. It’s how I’d live my life. Read on: https://radiocrystalblue.net/2013/07/28/my-personal-and-radio-vision/
HOLIDAY music: My last show for the year will be the week of December 15. This is the annual show focusing on seasonal music for this time of the year. If you know of artists who have music for Christmas or similar end-of-year holidays, or even simply for December, have them send it along.
____
RCB REWIND:
RCB Novus Ordo: Miss Tess & The Talkbacks begin this edition with a new album. I spun the title track, the lone original among 8 songs, tho the original does have a Hank Williams Sr feel to it. Voice Of Addiction also returns to the airwaves here; they the leading lights of Chicago-area punk. DownTown Mystic has one foot in classic rock, one in modern, and has serious personnel aboard for their latest album. Jeanette Lynne’s heartfelt style is quickly winning fans. I first saw Jeanette on a showcase event here in Philly. Mabel 1918 is the former band Glasgow.
RCB proper: The influence of the annual Northeast Regional Folk Alliance Conference was fully present this week. This conference, which took place in Kerhonksen, NY from 11/7 to 11/10, presented artists in a series of showcases, both private and public among the number of events held there over the four days. In 3 segments you heard me spin music from the major showcases, both formal and ‘quad’. We hear Buddy Mondlock among the formals, and more new music from Disappear Fear, Roy Bookbinder, Harpeth Rising and Spuyten Duyvil among the Quad showcase participants. As for the standard segments: Ellis toured last week across TX with her fellow Kerrville Music Festival New Folk competition winners. The tour culminated at the final edition of the Rice Festival in Fischer TX, with Sarah McQuaid & David Wilcox also part of the large lineup. Also returning to the RCB airwaves is DP, with a good mix of rock and hip-hop. Heather Pierson released her new album this past week and I debut this in the 2nd standard segment. Segment 3: Matt The Electrician is opening act for Kris Delmhorst at Austin’s Cactus Cafe on 11/14. Danielle Miraglia & Greg Klyma share billing at Rochester NY’s Tango Cafe on 11/16.

This aims to be the latest of the first great traditions I set up for Radio Crystal Blue: the end-of-October holiday edition. I could say Halloween, but the time of the year truly has a bunch of names.I don’t have enough songs to determine which ones will make the cut, so if you know of some, suggest them here or through the above social media links.

CD FOCUS: Debuting next week is a concept album that has already received coverage from ABC News and The Huffington Post. “This new project features songs inspired by, or using the prose as lyrics for one of Kerouac’s darkest works,Tristessa, about a morphine-addicted prostitute with whom Kerouac falls in love.” “Esperanza: Songs From Jack Kerouac’s ‘Tristessa’ features a select group of critically acclaimed indie rock artists…”
I’ll air 3-4 tracks next week and an equal amount for the weeks following

________

REBOOT:
I lost my hard drive. Essentially it crashed without warning. I lost all sorts of downloads and download codes, ensuring that the music of those artists will never be heard again on Radio Crystal Blue. That is, unless it comes time to fit them in for programming and a code is still available from the artist or management. There was no warning for the loss of the hard drive. I was downloading a newer version of Java and simultaneously running a cache dump in Firefox. I was recycling the last 10 gigabytes of my prime hard drive. I do have an external one, which was unharmed.
Today I took most of the day out to reacquaint myself with the computer, which now has more storage space, and less bells and whistles. In so doing, I was able to restore from scratch much of what is gone. Some aspects of my show are lost; the quarterly and end-of-year chart scores to determine the quarterly and all-time charts are history. Totally gone. I can recreate the quarterly numbers, as I do have record of every artist that received airplay this year, but now it will take much longer to get that work done. Plus, unless I get older versions of my chart page available, I cannot determine the all-time list ranking conclusively.

PODCAST SOURCES:
Big Contact is functional once again. Their podcast pages have been unresponsive for some time and I pressed for answers. Their response was reassuring: They removed a javascript ad that someone attached to my page, and also changed my password. Also, they don’t plan to bring back their stats package anytime soon but they suggested Feedburner as an option. I did look at Feedburner but there are no real updates in terms of stats there either. I really could use this info!

Meanwhile I built a new presence at www.archive.org as detailed above. There are more options now than before to access the audio. There’s even space to write a review!

ETC.
I’m still without work. Without a computer for a week, this last week was most trying as I had very limited access to the Internet. Since the computer’s return, I’ve gotten a lot busier with the search as I race against time, hoping to get my bills paid. I’m still behind on the rent and I don’t know how much longer I can go on here. Donations are most welcome at this time. You’ve helped me out before; it’s time to help once again. If you are interested in furthering my job search, and willing to run with my resume, please ask for this document from me directly.
