THE LATEST

This week I’ve resolved to get the identification process all restarted, now that I have some $ under me. I purchased a very necessary laptop bag, which will serve as a general purpose sort of bag (Yes, in a sense, a “Jeep”).   Thanksgiving here was pretty nice, bonding further with the family I live with and their friends, plus the opportunity to speak to my own family in TX.  Thank goodness for social media and those family members who do decide to make use of it. I’m thankful for my cousin in California, who has made strong efforts in getting a number of my cousins together in an online sense.  Home and family are just as important to me as is the need to work, organize, communicate.  And speaking of communicating….the physical mail is starting to pour in.  Alas, any mail that was sent to me between, say, middle to late October, is forever lost.  Surely you have my new address in Tacoma? Did you know I moved?
What’s also come to light is that I should transfer a lot of my communication in several directions. Have you noticed that I have never sent an email through the radiocrystalblue domain? Ever? That has to change. And it will. I’m receiving direct help to transfer the email hosting as well as the website proper; that’s for starters.  Then I have to gather my contacts and let them know about the new email addresses, whatever they happen to be.  Then I must cancel my service with Comcast, which I have had rather mixed feelings about, right down to the service level.   The biggest task will be the matter of changing my status with all people that have my current email address. That includes the hundreds of email mailing lists I’ve signed up for. I suppose I’ll have to do this myself, and the chances are good I’ll miss a few hundred folks, which I’d hate to do.   What I might stick to doing is see who I’m receiving email from in the most recent emails, and also see who has received repeat airplay from me over the last year.   That won’t be too hard of a task but it must be done.  If you know of other suggestions for getting the word out, do let me know.  For now, the comcast.net email remains.

Again I put out the call not just for new and original music but also holiday music.  The 12/14 is the big holiday edition, with appropo music for the season and the end of the year.  If you have, or know of someone who has any
holiday music, please let me know, and I’ll consider it.

RCB REWIND: The annotated version of the shows.
RCB Novus Ordo: Strangely interesting is the music of Alzara with Brother Spellbinder. It’s almost in the experimental category as folk goes. The mighty Rachael Sage has released her 12th album, Blue Roses. It’s also the 8th album I’ve debuted on RCB, ever since Public Record, going back to 2003. That’s not the only artist I debuted years ago that remains a staple. How about new albums from Jonathan Byrd?  Johnsmith? Ellis Paul, who I saw for the first time last year, gets debuted here as well.  Hardin Burns is the duo of Andrew Hardin (Tom Russell) and Jeannie Burns (The Burns Sisters)

RCB for the standard experience sounds more even than the shows I’ve done in the last month. It’s because I have a new CD player, one that is portable, and very little machinery to create any background noise. The tradition continues: Lara Herscovitch’s anti-Thanksgiving song begins this edition. In segment one, we hear artists who were part of the 20th anniversary of the fine indie label Signature Sounds. Eilen Jewell returns to my airwaves, plus some more from the new album by Zoe Muth, and brand new music by Lonna Marie.  Segment 2 includes new music from UK pop music star Luke Potter. Also new is the group Chicha Dust, who present a live album. Chicha Dust draws heavily upon the songs from the chicha genre and throw in some heavier guitar. Segment 3 has new music by Jon Shain, here with an old Paul Simon cover.  Final segment includes music from an older song by Beth DeSombre.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
I focus on CDs as opposed to downloads, though I make exceptions in the event of albums that are digital releases only. Music must have a 2014 release date. All new albums debut on RCB Novus Ordo; on rare exception,\some debut on Radio Crystal Blue proper. I’m also interested in featuring, great compilation or soundtrack albums\track-for-track, to help tell the story of those album (see above).

THE LATEST
Truly, miracles abound.  Miracles personally and financially have fueled my psyche and my overall energy.  I intend, within a month, to have my identification matters resolved and I will be able to work in the Evergreen State as a state resident.  There have been some snags, but time and exactness are resolving everything. I’ve learned to be more patient, as well as adapting to changing circumstances at home and out in the world, or at least the world around my new home of Parkland WA.    I’m getting a better sense of where places are, and how to get around.   With some $ coming in, I’m aiming to cover some live events here in the City of Destiny and also attend some spiritually-minded events alongsides.   As Thanksgiving Day approaches, I’m thankful for the opportunity to live out my life in a comfortable place, with a family, and with the opportunity to pursue all my interests.  I’m thankful, certainly, for all of you reading this.
I’ve added some more content to my page on the new social network, Ello. I’d like to leave it for my thoroughly creative side, instead of the wordiness you know me for.
This week’s podcast, plus the next 3 will be my final ones for 2014.  The 12/14 podcast itself is the big holiday edition, with appropo music for the season and the end of the year.  If you have, or know of someone who has any holiday music, please let me know, and I’ll consider it.  If you’ve been a long-time listener, you’ll recall the traditions I’ve put together to make that last show of the year special.      In the interim, between 12/14 and 12/25 I’ll put together the quarterly and annual RCB charts that rank the top 100 for the year. I’ve been lax in getting the quarterlies done but I aim to make up for lost time.  The charts you see on my website are from 2013.
Mail is one issue that has weighed me down the last 2 months.  I actually have received very little mail since the move, except for those whom have my new  mailing address.  I placed a change of address form in the mail, unaware that the  process takes 2 weeks. So, if you mailed me anything in the last few weeks, the mail has more than likely been returned as undeliverable.  This week, I confirmed that all mail is now being forwarded starting this week.
RCB REWIND: The annotated version of the shows.
RCB Novus Ordo: Welcoming back The Brehms, a TX-based act with their sophisticated blend of country and jazz.   Veteran bluesmen Otis Clay & Johnny Rawls duet on a new album.  You also get to hear the modern psychedelic rock sound of Tapebenders, straight outta Milwaukee.
RCB for 2 segments featured artists who were part of the big weekend NERFA conference showcases in Kerhonkson NY.  You get to hear more new music from Robert Bruey, Claudia Schmidt, Matt Harlan and Libby  Koch.  Sloan Wainwright and Davey O were on a double bill at the Borderline Folk Club, New City NY, 11/16.  Suzie Brown toured with Jesse Terry for a few shows this month, wrapping up in Falls Church VA on 11/22. It was Suzie’s first tour with baby Josie in tow.  Other highlights include a new song by Spanking Charlene, recorded live; 3 more songs from the Chris Smither tribute album. My favorite is Tim O’Brien’s version of “Origin Of Species”.  Thoroughly enjoyed Rod Picott’s tune “Dreams” that is heard in segment 4.  More new music by Jessie Kilguss is heard here.  Brand new album from Switchback celebrates the Hibernian mass, following the Roman Catholic tradition. The song I spun is homage to the recognized great saints of Ireland.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
I focus on CDs as opposed to downloads, though I make exceptions in the
event of albums that are digital releases only. Music must have a 2014
