THE VISION I hold for my life and this program: http://wp.me/p1FKJJ-G6
—–
PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about June 9 and will be available for about 1 year. You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands.
RCB Novus Ordo is a separate podcast with 6-8 songs, one each from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you the backstory of each artist.
*****
THE LATEST: This past week, between podcasts, I’ve experienced more of a shift on the spiritual side of things, and also in my communication, both to myself and to the online world. No, I’m not abandoning you all! I’m simpy learning to deal with external stimuli in a way that’s radically different than in the past. I felt the shift even as I broadcast, feeling more confident, feeling more like my real self. I’m seeing some interesting coincidences occur which are opening up my self up. Suffice it to say, I’m something of a changed person, understanding and experiencing my soul more.
On the outer there are still things to clean up, bills to pay, people to connect to, words to type, equipment to buy for this show, travel plans to set in place. Yes, doing all this, and trusting that the money is there to make all this happen. But I won’t lie to myself and to you: the situation requires more than just my efforts and money. Remember you can donate through the PayPal link at the homepage. I aim to continue doing podcasts every week that I possibly can, and also be involved in the work that will see this vision through. The vision I’m referring to is not exactly the one that I’ve linked to above. There’s more to it, but it’s true to my self.

Running a podcast by onself and having to compete with radio networks, national, satellite and others is not at all easy. I do feel like I’m in this competition to get eyes and ears, and most of all appreciators of freeform radio. Hardly anyone runs a program with a heart and flow involved in the programming, let alone a flesh-and-blood DJ at the controls . That is my hallmark, my unique self in this business and art form. All I ask is that the word get out to more people, and quickly.

One thing that’s part of the big vision includes traveling to other cities and capturing media, doing reviews of music events and providing some of the experience after-the-fact. On Friday June 6 I was at The Legendary Dobbs to see a showcase including RCB faves Sirsy. Full review here: http://wp.me/p1FKJJ-H7

RCB REWIND:
RCB Novus Ordo: Neale Eckstein, who runs Fox Run Studios in the Boston metreo area, and who is heard on any number of albums that I’ve given airplay to over the years, debuts his own songwriter material here, with the help of some rather famous friends. Carrie Elkin & Danny Schmidt are partners in love and music, and have finally released their debut duo album, with alternating lead vocals per slong.

RCB proper: Continued the summer song segment that opens every show during the season. One of the songs, “Into The Ocean” by Fretblanket, is of the outstanding one-hit-wonders. First segment gets all summery including a song by the sister act Moore & Moore, who did a series of shows before the CMA Festival in Nashville last week. Segment 2 includes another song from Andy Hawk & The Train Wreck Endings, plus another new song from Antigone Rising. Segment 3 got into deeper feelings across the songs. Lara Herscovitch and Amy Speace were aired back to back; Lara opened for Amy at an event in Birmingham, Alabama on 6/6. Final segment: Zoe Mulford’s summer tune about the Jersey Shore ends up here, with some help from Pat Wictor. And for the 2nd straight week, we hear a tune from Pat’s live album. Both of them performed in Landsdowne PA, not far from Philly, on 6/5.

SUBMISSION GUIDLINES
I focus on CDs as opposed to downloads, though I make exceptions in the event of albums that are digital releases only. Music must have a 2014 release date or not released otherwise before September 2013. All new albums debut on RCB Novus Ordo; on rare exception, some debut on Radio Crystal Blue proper.
I’m also interested in featuring, great compilation or soundtrack albums track-for-track, to help tell the story of those albums.

@ The Legendary Dobbs 6/6/14

Philly promoter Andre Coles, better known to locals as Boy Wonder brought his monthly HYPE! showcase series to The Legendary Dobbs on a busy Friday night. This being First Friday, there was a busier scene than normal outside lengendary South Street. The same couldn’t be said for the downstairs section of Dobbs, as part of the roof caved in and cancelled any action on that floor. Thankfully the 2nd floor was cleared for performance, thankfully.
Local songstress Emily Mineo did a handful of songs, solo & acoustic, showcasing a great vocal range. I understand she’s recording her first album.
007 010 012 018

Upstate NY rock duo Sirsy performed 7 songs, including “Lionhearted” my favorite track, for the moment, from their prior album Coming Into Frame. I’ve seen Sirsy a handful of times, and the act doesn’t change much at all between the drums, guitar, bass pads, flute,….flute? Yes, on “Revolution”, where Melanie Krahmer’s marching band background comes in handy. You have to see this…

003 026 030 032 046 065
Following Sirsy were rhythm guitarist Chris Gennett and backing band The Bickel Brothers (John & Patrick, plus Gusten Rudolph), on bass, drums and melodic organ. Chris comes from a laid-back folk-pop perspective. Emily joined him on a cover of “Hit The Road Jack” and 1 or 2 other songs. Chris is just about to release an album.
074 078 086
After their set, the Bickel Brothers charmed the full audience with some cover songs. Kelvin Cochrane, late of The Absolute Zeros (did you know they reunited last year?, busted in and sang with the group a bit and danced with a few patrons, including Boy Wonder himself.
089 090
South Street looked like this afterward. I’m standing near Manny Brown’s where a musical duo barely on the sidewalk are playing to patrons inside.
