NEXT SHOW will be published on or about June 27 and will be available for
the rest of the year.
Owing to schedule demands, I usually publish on noon Wednesdays or as soon as
possible thereafter.
You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground
songwriters and bands.

RCB Novus Ordo will also air separately. On this show I spin one song from
as many as 8 songs in one sitting and give you background info of each
artist.

*******************

My quarterly CHART page will be updated in the first week of July, as I reveal who the most popular artists on my show are. I base stats on progressive amounts of airplay and recent exposure via the show. What’s the chart like at this moment? Read up at the chart tab of http://www.radiocrystalblue.net

Reminding you all that any compelling compilation/concept CDs can be sent
here directly. I’m seeking material that can be featured, song-for-song, in
my CD FOCUS segments. It’s been a while since the last feature.

I composed a short essay re the matter of album sales and the stances of several DJs and artists. I aimed to take an outsider perspective on the huge debate that took place on the Web this week. By now you know about what two DJs at NPR did, for the sake of honesty and space-saving (digital footprint if you will). One prominent artist spoke out against them on his blog. I give you my take in the latest post to my website: Mythical Album Dollars At Stake: Beyond Lowery vs. White. Read on at https://radiocrystalblue.net/2012/06/21/mythical-album-dollars-at-stake-beyond-lowery-v-white/

COVERAGE:

I do audio interviews, photos, video, and audio of live events. You can see and hear evidence across my Facebook and YouTube channels, plus the field recording FeedPlayer.Time, location and expense will be taken into account
before taking on a job.

Right now here’s what I’ve planned to see:

Voltheque is a local electronica band, performing at The Legendary Dobbs, 6/30.
http://www.facebook.com/Voltheque

Greta Gertler presents her band The Universal Thump at the Green Line Cafe, 7/19. http://www.theuniversalthump.com

One of the great Canadian bands ever, The Trews, play at The Grape Room on 7/25. http://www.thetrewsmusic.com

I’m seeking another show to check out before 6/30, and at least one more in early July.

RCB REVIEW: The annotated version of the shows.

RCB Novus Ordo: Jo Wymer presents an album of hard-hitting rock n’ roll. Fire On McGinnis bring a thoroughly modern rock touch to traditional and Celtic tunes (the song I spun, “Nancy Whiskey” mixes the sounds of bagpipes and guitars very well). Chantilly (Waryck) from Brooklyn has resurfaced musically with a new dreamy EP. A long call-response tune from the heartfelt songwriter Devirose rounds out this edition.

RCB proper: With a busy schedule and overall tiredness I got this show out to all of you on Thursday. I got my first Spotify signup in the process! Marina V and Manda Mosher perform at Molly Malone’s in Los Angeles on 6/24. Started with sunshiny pop in the beginning of segment 1, and then the clouds came in. Is there such thing as cloudy pop? Maybe so. Segment 2 presented another new song by Changing Modes, and a 2009 song from Brett Gleason, who makes his airplay debut for my show here. Segment 3 relies a lot on good harmonies. In particular is the change in harmony and mood from Ryan Tennis’ “Wicky-I-oh” and Emily Pinkerton’s “Negra”. The latter song stems from Emily’s study of Peruvian huaynos, mixed with a WV traditional song. Segment 4 starts with a brand new album by Anna Dagmar. Lucy Kaplansky is heard on backing vocals. Anna opens for Lucy at Tupelo Music Hall, Londonderry NH, 6/23.
