*****
PROJECTS on the docket:
Continued work on the archive….shows from 2006 and older that haven’t been heard since the original live air date!
Inquiring about having RSS service through WordPress, the folks that own my web content.  Does anyone know if I can host my feed through the website?
Making up for lost time now, here’s info about the last 2 shows

RCB REWIND: The annotated version of the shows.
From  week of 1/25: With much less music to work with this, I condensed RCB Novus Ordo into the standard program itself.   With the passing of media legend Joe Franklin, I paid homage to the King Of Nostalgia with some very old tunes. 12th Street Rag was the opening theme to Joe’s long running TV show on NYC station WOR.  Dug into the archives to find an older song from Professor Louie & The Crowmatix, one that mentions my old neighborhood.  Candice Sand.      New music in the final segment from Mary Gauthier and Camela Widad.    Within the New Music Sampler (the forerunner of RCB Novus Ordo), I was impressed by 3PM, a Baltimore pop-rock band.
From week of 2/1:  On RCB Novus Ordo: Like A Country Song is a movie that received little attention nationally outside of a limited release in Nashville. Billy Ray Cyrus is the lead actor. He contributes the title track to the soundtrack. Instead of that track, I aired one from Alexis. Ozlem Bulut Band might be the first band ever from Turkey to be part of RCB’s programs.  Aradia is based in the greater Seattle area and in fact is playing at Jazzbones on 3/1. Her music is electronica based with an altruistic message.  Sunup was active in the 70s; we hear music from a reissued album plus some extra sounds from Saratoga, the setting for this concept album. Screen Door Porch return with a fuller band and a new album.  Calico have changed personnel a bit and have released, at long last, their debut album, representing ‘California Country’.  On RCB proper:  Skyline Hotel are also new to RCB and have released a seasonal song for winter. I spun “The Skyline Hotel” by The Matthew Show afterward, noting the connection of the song title, along with the fact that his album is titled ‘february’.  One of those unplanned segues.  Pair of Ronstadt recordings back to back in segment 3, which follows a new song from Krista Baroni.  Michael G. Ronstadt, Aaron Nathans, Buddy Mondlock and Terry Rivel shared billing on 2/6 at the Barrington Coffee House, Barrington NJ.  Final segment contains a delightful new song performed by Carrie Elkin & Danny Schmidt. Danny is a first-class songwriter.

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
I focus on CDs as opposed to downloads, though I make exceptions in the event of albums that are digital releases only. Music must have a 2014-15 release date. I’ll accept material not older than 6 months from the present date.   Any older material will not receive a featured debut; instead, they will be placed within the long rotation and selection process for future shows.
I’m also interested in featuring, great compilation or soundtrack albums\track-for-track, to help tell the story of those albums (see above).
EPK (Electronic press kits) submissions can be sent via one of these companies.
Search for the words Radio Crystal Blue to find my pages there. If I like the EPK, I will then ask for a CD.
CDs that fit in the above rules may be sent to

RCB Novus Ordo airs as a separate podcast to highlight songs from brand-new

For this show, I’m changing things somewhat. Read below..
*****
THE LATEST
Having learned just hours ago of the death of NYC media legend Joe Franklin, I took my own trip down memory lane, and recalled my one and only encounter with the man.  It’s such a story that I just can’t use up spai here to type. I encourage you to listen to this week’s podcast and hear what happened.   I recalled nostalgia not just for the music and clips JF prized (everything from the first half of the 20th century), but also for the radio and TV of the day.  It’s serves as a gentle escape.
To that end, in tribute, I aim to spin the earliest available music from each artist I plan to give airplay to. Just to change things up!  Sometimes the older songs have to come back out of the woodwork.

I also am recalling the project I had shelved for awhile, the idea of refurbishing a series of shows I did in 2005/2006 and placing them in the Internet Archive, suitable for framing.  I want to publish shows that sound much like what I used to do before my rededication to indie/underground music. Before 2006 I had some focus, but it was side-by-side with the majors.  I changed my tune after I had left CBGB  one final time  in October of that year.  You can look forward to hearing an oldie but goodie, for the first time since its original airing, when I was still on Live365.

RCB REWIND: The annotated version of the shows.
I had Tanya Donnely in mind early on. She, Robin Lane and Kris Delmhorst perform at The Parlor Room in Northampton MA on 2/8. It will be a benefit show for Songbird Sings, dedicated to healing trauma through songwriting.  If you listen carefully in segment 1, and I know you to be careful listeners, you likely spotted the ‘mountain’ theme in most of these songs.  SONiA of Disappear Fear, plus Sister Speak and Tori Roze appeared at last weekend’s NAMM convention in         Segment 2 got rather bluesy (as it often does). Shawn Amos and Magnus Berg were part of a Blind Raccoon label showcase during the International Blues Challenge in Memphis. Altered Five Blues Band, recent RCB debutantes, won the title of Best Self-Produced Album.   Recently released music by The Devyl Nellys (hello again!) and Schwervon! are also must-listens.   I completed the first run-through of songs on the Grateful Dead 3-CD set, “Wake Up To Find Out”.  Segment 3:
Karyn Oliver, Meg Braun & Sharon Goldman shared equal billing at the Heights House Concert Series in Jersey City NJ on 1/25.  A bit of a travelogue unfolds in Segment 4 as well.
