PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about September 18 and will be available for about 1 year. I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon as possible thereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands.
RCB Novus Ordo is a separate podcast with 6 songs, one each from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you some backstory of each.
**
Outside of radio for a moment: I’m still dealing with heavy financial issues and am not sure I’ll have the most important of bills, the rent, paid this month. However there are some very positive changes afoot: I just landed some temporary work and have also begun to field some job interviews. Pending pre-employment matters, I might start in a week. All of this news built up on Friday. I’m practically mesmerized at the speed of it all! Top priority is getting all bills paid, and securing work in whatever form. My personal life will get a lot busier and that means a bit less time for radio work. But this is what I’ve asked for to get my life in order. These events could not have come at a more important time. Donations, of course, are certainly welcome. Your donations helped keep me off the streets before.
I’m not exactly in a celebratory mood. Moreover I am focused on getting the rest of the bills paid, and hoping to save money quickly. Until I find myself in more solid financial footing, I’m staying off the grid for any matters involving the music industry. The podcasts will continue on a weekly basis, time permitting.

********

The annotated notes of this week’s shows:
RCB Novus Ordo: Carolann Solebello’s fourth solo album is released this month, with her brand of urban-folk reintroduced with a newer level of maturity in the songs. Von Shakes is the other NYC/Dublin based band I saw last month at The Grape Room here in Philadelphia, a edgy alternative pop-rock outfit. DP (Daniel Perez) presents indie hip-hop in a style comparable to Fun Lovin’ Criminals.
RCB proper: I retold my story about 9/11 and my gratefulness to be alive to tell the tale. Chris Pan’s 2006 album “All A Dream” is about his take on 9/11 in 3 different moods. Chris has a public-access program on Manhattan Neighborhood Network expanding on some of these ideals. Segment 1: Debut airplay for Matt The Electrician, who also appears on Rebecca Loebe’s recent album. Matt shared billing with Nels Andrews at Don Quixote’s in Felton CA on 9/11, then with Shinyribs (Ken Russell of The Gourds) at Palm’s Playhouse, Winters CA on 9/12. Segment 2 includes more new music from Australian bluegrass outfit Mustered Courage and Russian-American songwriter Marina V. Segment 3: Ellis and Roy Schneider are headline showcase participants at the South West Regional Folk Alliance Conference, held in Austin, 9/26-29. I kept to a rough roots and blues influence with this segment, ending in inspiration (Rani Arbo, Lisa Biales). Segment 4: Terry Rivel’s tune “Angel In Darkness” sounds an awful lot like Buck Owens’ “Streets Of Bakersfield” (could be just my ears). Three songs followed with foreign voices (one each Polish, Chilean, French).

NEXT SHOW will be published on or about August 14 and will be available for about 1 year. I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon as possible thereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands.
Some RCB traditions are in place for this particular program!

RCB Novus Ordo is a separate podcast with 7 songs, one each from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you some backstory of each.

**
The very latest: I’m still with this financial situation that has not changed all that much in the last week. The rent is still due and there are the utility bills that are also having to be processed. I’m currently identifying agencies that may assist in shouldering the burden. If it weren’t for all of your donations the past few weeks, this situation surely would have escalated into something darker and more encompassing than it already is. Thank you very much for your support!
My goals have remained the same. I can summarize for you here but it’s best you read my post from last month that explains what I want. https://radiocrystalblue.net/2013/07/28/my-personal-and-radio-vision/
Will you help me to hold this vision?
JOE SILVA, a songwriter whom I debuted on RCB Novus Ordo, will be my next audio interview subject next week. Once the interview is complete, I will publish to my interview-based FeedPlayer, linked at my website and at www.bigcontact.com/radiocrystalbluefield From this player you can download, stream and share prior audio content. More of Joe at www.thejoesilvawebsite.com

There are times like now, being away from live events for so long, that I have ‘cabin fever’ and must partake in some activity, despite the way things appear in my life. So I’m likely to attend one or even two music events and review for the website. I will be certain to include photos, audio and video where appropo.
***
5 YEARS AGO this week here are some artists that I gave airplay to: Carrie Elkin (debut), Natalie Gelman, Tori Sparks, Whisperado, Kyler England, Emily Zuzik, Kathy Zimmer, Annie Keating, Romantica. More: http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/radiocrystalblue/message/2523
********
RCB Novus Ordo: Some of the outstanding debuts from this program include Nathaniel Land (Chris Cubeta, producer), and the duo of Jim Patton & Sherry Brokus. Yoshiko, from Japan, introduces instrumental music honoring her country.

RCB proper: 3 Penny Acre make their RCB debut, just in time before they tour again, and also host the upcoming Fayetteville (AR) Roots Festival. Great lineup in place, with music by some of the featured artists heard in Segment 1. Spun another from Mary Gauthier’s live album as part of this segment. The songs from the segment do evoke elements of summer in some way. Segment 2 includes the title track from Amy Speace’s new album, plus a return to the airwaves from Olio; they are touring outside their native CA. Segment 3 gives you more new music from Brother Joscephus & The Love Revival Revolution. Segment started with blues then morphed in various rock expressions. We hear Greater Alexander interviewed by yours truly. Segment 4 is represented proudly by Ellis. She is part of the Rocky Mountain Folks Festival. In that same festival, Talia Segal is in a songwriting competition. Talia is just returning to the stage after a long illness. Ellis, Antigone Rising & Rachael Sage are part of the Women’s Redrock Music Festival as well. Blue Rodeo & The Western Swing Authority were part of the Manitoulin Country Fest this weekend. Final segment went like this: Lu Horta with Brazilian music, then homage to Django Reinhardt from Marcy Marxer…a song from a couple about a couple. Craig Bickhardt with his own song about a couple, namely Johnny and June Carter Cash. Borrowed the June title for including Terry Rivel’s song to follow this. New music from Brooks Williams closes it out.
