PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about August 21 and will be available for about 1 year. I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon as possible thereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands.
RCB Novus Ordo is a separate podcast with 6-8 songs, one each from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you some backstory of each.

On the personal side of things, I’m repairing some financial matters that once were fairly solid. I’m still seeking work and intending to work on the overall vision (including radio) that I shared with you on the website last month. For a reminder, here’s the link to it:
Given my financial state, I’ve reviewed very few shows this year, and am keeping pretty quiet until things settle. This week, I just had the urge to get out and get some media for you all. It’s been too long!

5 YEARS AGO this week, these artists received airplay, among the notable: Reid Paley, Iridesesnse, Annie Minogue, Rebecca Pronsky, Tim Blane, Andi Rae Healy, Mieka Pauley, Saint Bernadette, Mara Levi. Lots more where that came from:

RCB Novus Ordo: Buddy Guy. Nothing more to be said. Well, that’s not good enough for words on a page, is it? I received this new 2-CD set from Buddy’s radio folks, one more upbeat titled “Rhythm”, another more bluesy, titled “Blues”. Slim Loris, an indie-pop band from Sweden, are debuted on this program, as well as a great tune from Australia’s Andrea Kirwin.
RCB proper: Continuing an RCB tradition, I spun some psychedelic-oriented music, honoring the lyrics to The Velvet Underground’s “The Gift”, with the song’s setting taking place in mid-August. Most of the music happens to be from British bands. Some of you who remember the 90s will recall Catherine Wheel as a hot band on the rise in England. If you love great soaring, Fripp-like guitar-work, this is the band for you. Luna, many years ago as well, were members of several bands, but not meant to be a supergroup. They had opened for VU in that band’s reunion in France around 1991. Segment 2 is mainly songwriter-oriented. New music from soul-oriented artist Adia & The 7 Eyes, and recent music from Andy Hawk & The Train Wreck Endings (the song I spun is on a bonus disc of material). Segment 3 starts with new blues (actually an old cover) from a new disc by Kirsten Thien, along with original rockabilly from Voodoo Swing. Both artists are part of the upcoming Swing Vespelaar 2013, a festival encompassing, swing, blues and related sounds, located in Belgium. The aforementioned Alex Kelly was the Grape Room this week. You must see the video for her song “Orange Circle”. Segment 4: Subjects from this segment include one’s manliness and the great outdoors. Final segment: Sloan Wainwright & Aztec Two-Step did a benefit concert to help elect a local county judge. Danielle Miraglia, Craig Bickhardt and Lizanne Knott will take part in the Plymouth (Notch, VT) Folk & Blues Concert Series on 8/31.
