PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about August 7 and will be available for about 1 year. I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon as possible thereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands.

RCB Novus Ordo is a separate podcast with 8 songs, one each from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you some backstory of each.

**

This week, I remotely participated in Cyber PR’s Digital Press Conference, held at their headquarters in Brooklyn NY. I was home and on Skype, lobbing questions to several artists. The audio of each interview can be heard via a separate FeedPlayer devoted to live recordings and interviews, located at www.radiocrystalblue.net and www.bigcontact.com/radiocrystalbluefield
FireDean http://bigcontact.com/radiocrystalbluefield/364117

You can stream, download and share all the content there.

New month, and time again to share some RCB LOVE, as I post websites that have carried the good name of this program in July:

QUOTE: “Thank you so much for your support. Honestly- I wish there were more like you.” – Garrison Starr, via Facebook, 6/29/2013

I posted a personal update, two of them, to be precise about my financial and work situation. I can’t say much has changed on the outer but some inner work is definitely stirring up things. I’m taking some different actions than what I had done in the past. I intend change to occur, and only for the best for all concerned.

Yes, pretty serious situation, but I am finding some good resources that will be useful if and when the time comes.

5 YEARS AGO this week here’s some of the artists that received airplay: A Moment’s Worth, Geoffrey Armes, Flo Anito, Crooked Still, Rachael Sage, Katie Pearlman Band, MJ Hibbett & The Validators, John Taglieri, Blackbird Pond, Victor Bravo, Swampdawamp, Fionn O Lochlainn. More from where this came from at http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/radiocrystalblue/message/2518

RCB Novus Ordo: Debut airplay once again from Dann Russo, who recorded a live EP at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge, MA. I was blown away by the sounds of Super Water Sympathy, and their ‘water-pop’ approach. This Way To The Egress is a band I first saw here in Philly, and they are debuted here with a classic example of gypsy rock.

RCB proper: Don’t ask me why, but I suddenly got nostalgic for British TV programming. I cued up some music from the 90’s alongsides. Pizzicato Five was a band I remember bringing a sense of sophistication in music, much the way Saint Etienne did in the 90’s, tho there was that acid-rock base that they presented unlike the electronic roots of P5. P5 sampled a song from Françoise Hardy, which you hear right after. “Summer Nights” by Marianne Faithfull is another staple of summer songs here. If only the song was longer… Segment 1: Martha Redbone Roots Project gets debuted at the beginning, with poems of William Blake set to music. Martha, along with Clarence Bucaro, were at City Winery in Chicago on 8/2, and also shared billing with The Steel Wheels for this weekend’s Sugar Maple Traditional Music Festival, in Madison WI. Segments 2 and 5 contained music from artists who are performing in this year’s Musikfest, in Bethlehem PA. On The Water is an experimental band I saw last year in Philly. Madison Cano I first heard of and saw while in Cape May back in March. I was hooked on this song “Forget Ourselves”; the chromatic guitar groove recalls a Bob Dylan song, “Lay Lady Lay” (give it a listen, it’s fairly comparative). Reverend TJ McGlinchey I saw twice in Philly before, once at Ryan Tennis’ Clubhouse Concert series. Segment 3: Bern & The Brights, and Val Emmich shared billing at Maxwell’s in Hoboken NJ. The famed venue closed up shop on 7/31. Segment 4: More new music from folk group Mustered Courage, plus another new song from Alan Semerdjian.

Radio Crystal Blue interviews Greater Alexander

“Greater Alexander” Vlachos states he was ‘born in Binghamton, bred in Athens, Greece, raised in Detroit’.  And that’s just the beginning.  We do talk about Detroit, also a bit about Alexander’s mindset in creating his debut album and the power of positive thinking.
Interview took place via Skype as part of Cyber PR’s Digital Press Conference, 7/31/13.  Alexander was on site at Cyber PR’s HQ in Brooklyn NY, and I was home in Philadelphia.

Radio Crystal Blue interviews Scott Krokoff

The NYC-based songwriter (and tax attorney!) chats with me about the making of Realizations & Declarations, releasing a series of EPs in the process. You will like the Belgium house concert story, I promise.
Interview took place at Cyber PR‘s Digital Press Conference, via Skype. I interviewed Scott from Philadelphia here at home, and Scott was on location at Cyber PR HQ in Brooklyn NY
