A statement on legalities affecting Radio Crystal Blue

I want to explain a few changes I’m making to Radio Crystal Blue going forward.

Spotify has been asking for documentation when certain episodes are flagged for possible rights issues. I understand why they do this, and I want the show to stay fully compliant on every platform where it appears.

The challenge is that Radio Crystal Blue has been around for a long time, and I do not have a perfect digital paper trail for every track that has ever been submitted for airplay. Over the years, a lot of music was sent directly by artists, publicists, labels, or representatives for promotional use. In many cases, that permission was clear at the time, but I did not always keep every old email or message. I also recently had to upgrade my Zoho mail storage after running out of space, and unfortunately some older emails had already been deleted before I realized how important they might become later.

Because of this, I may need to remove some older episodes if I cannot document the permissions clearly enough. That is frustrating, but I would rather be careful and responsible than keep something online when I cannot properly support it.

Going forward, I am keeping a much more detailed record for every track I air. That includes the artist, song title, source of the submission, type of permission, date received, and any related email or documentation. I am also creating PDF records so that, if an episode is questioned, I can respond with organized proof instead of scrambling through old messages.

This may affect how quickly new shows are produced, and it may narrow some of what I can comfortably include, especially when it comes to older music sent many years ago. I do not want Radio Crystal Blue to become creatively limited, but I also need to protect the show and respect the rules of each platform.

Radio Crystal Blue is not going away. I still intend to produce the show, support independent artists, and air music I believe in. The process may take more time now, but the goal remains the same: to keep the show alive, legal, organized, and fair to everyone involved.

Thank you for understanding, and thank you for continuing to support what I do

PS: I changed my original post and enlisted some AI help to clean it up and ensure that this is a coherent post. I hope this is understandable. See, some good can come out of ChatGPT
