PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about May 19 and will be available for about 1 year. You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands.

RCB Novus Ordo is a separate podcast with 6-8 songs, one each from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you the backstory of each artist.

THE LATEST:
I wish I had better news but there is still no change in the overall atmosphere here. I’m still seeking work and a reliable income in the Philadelphia metro area. With each passing week I’ve lowered my standards to seek work that falls outside of my office work experience. Money is rather low here. Yes, the rent is rather late, still. I may have to turn to some city agencies to get any bills paid, especially the rent.
At the same time, I’ve worked on some other areas of life including a now growing area of sports and stats. The above-mentioned website and Twitter handle have grown a bit in popularity and I’m envisioning doing some travel. Actually I have yet to travel outside of the east coast to see artists perform. I’d like to be able to travel once or twice a month and document my journey as I go. So I’m having to bridge the ideal (I am rather the idealist) with earthly reality.
As mentioned at other times, you can donate to keep me afloat as well as this very program. Thanks to those who have donated thus far!
New RCB logo is in place thanks to a kind soul named Julian Day, of his project The Julian Day. What do you think? Have a look at the top portion of www.radiocrystalblue.net/home

Just got a message from RCB fan Don Riley, who has a public-access program in long standing called Captyn Zodiak’s House of Infinite Possibilities. A groundbreaking program with straight spiritual talk, one man and his camera trained on you, speaking, emoting, with beats and visuals in the background.  Don generates his own mix of music, decidedly EDM.  He approached me on Facebook to find artists that can contribute other musical sounds for the background. In Don’s words: “…perhaps some trippy guitar stuff, no vocals,…. I’d need a half hour mix, deep, soulful, trippy stuff.”  More about the show at www.letitbereal.com

RCB REWIND:
RCB Novus Ordo’s most recent show includes music by guitarist Carmen Grillo, formerly of Tower Of Power. Also we hear Girl On Fire, one of the newer alternative bands representing Seattle’s continually developing music scene.
RCB proper: We’re at the time of the year when the big music festivals come into focus. The Kerrville Folk Music Festival, the largest such festival of its type, began last week and runs through early June. As per RCB tradition, I spun music from several artists taking part in the festival, whether via featured status or the New Folk competition (Chase Gassaway). This practice of spinning music from a number of artists across a festival or showcase began a few years ago using Kerrville as the standard. Every time I choose an artist/band for airplay, I look for any shows in the immediate future where that artist is sharing stage with another. So that’s how Segment 1 rolls. Another new track from Vance Gilbert is included. Segment 2: Meghan Cary, Rachel Schain, and Prima Donna will be part of a Gogirlsmusic Festival showcase on 6/7 in Philly, with proceeds going to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. I aired a song from Prima Donna that will appear on their forthcoming album. Heth & Jed kick off Segment 3. Yes, they are back to performing again! Also: a lot of newly released music got into the rotation here: Lynn Hollyfield’s new album (excellent CD artwork), Jiggley Jones’s new EP, and Red Molly’s new album are heard. Red Molly wrote more original individual songs for this album, and have drummer Ken Coomer (Uncle Tupelo, Wilco) in the producer’s chair. This album is the sort I’ve longed for by the trio. Segment 4 is largely acoustic and Americana music. Hurray For The Riff Raff’s album continues to gain exposure here. Billy Shaddox’s 2012 album gets a deserving debut here also.
SUBMISSION GUIDLINES
I focus on CDs as opposed to downloads, though I make exceptions in the event of albums that are digital releases only. Music must have a 2014 release date or not released otherwise before August 2013. All new albums debut on RCB Novus Ordo; on rare exception, some debut on Radio Crystal Blue proper.
I’m also interested in featuring, great compilation or soundtrack albums track-for-track, to help tell the story of those albums.
