PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about August 28 and will be available for about 1 year. I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon as possible thereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands.

RCB Novus Ordo is a separate podcast with 6 songs, one each from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you some backstory of each.

**
INTERVIEW of The Grahams, a ‘river roots’ duo-led band, is available at the field/recording/interview FeedPlayer, atat the home and archive tabs of my website and at www.bigcontact.com/radiocrystalbluefield We talk about the exploration of different genres over the years, and some of the making of their debut album “Riverman’s Daughter”. I conducted this interview via Skype. More about The Grahams at www.thegrahamsmusic.net

Financial status hasn’t changed much but I intend for it to get better. Upon this, I want to pursue a number of things in life that I’ve never done, and complete some goals that I’ve partially started. For an idea of where I’m coming from, read:

The annotated notes of this week’s shows:
RCB Novus Ordo: 3 artists from Vegas are part of this mix. 2 are punk bands with a great track record, and both on Squid Hat Records. One of them, The Peccadilloes, transformed into The Gashers and are active as a trio. The aforementioned duo The Grahams release their debut album next month, produced by Malcolm Burn, and feature excellent Nashville-area personnel such as Phil Madeira and members of the North Mississippi All Stars.

RCB proper: Sometimes I get inspiration for an opening segment by the time of the year. You know this. Maybe an artist just passed away. Maybe there is an artist in the news that I see time and time again in my social timelines. All those factors played a part this week. I was still thinking about spinning Luna from last week, and got out the Penthouse, spinning what I believe is the greatest hidden track on a CD, their version of Serge Gainsbourg’s “Bonnie & Clyde”. Also this week came report of the somewhat temporary destruction of a mural of Joe Strummer, located in NYC’s East Village. One caption in the mural contains the song “Know Your Rights” which I promptly spun. In between was the challenge as to what to fill in the space. Immediately I thought of the Middle Eastern-flavored music of Jah Wobble’s Invaders Of The Heart so that’s there. Also spun one of Joe Strummer’s own tunes while he was with the Mescaleros, the same lazy, world-beat sort of jam. More proper jamming too with Bill Laswell and Matisyahu’s backing band Roots Tonic. And, of course, a song from Serge himself, one of his very best. Segment 2 runs the gamut of genres, but with a good driving feel to it (no, they are not necessarily driving songs). Segment 3 is more rock and blues oriented, and I continue to be enchanted Sirsy’s latest album. V-Device from Italy also is heard here. Segment 4: Davey O opens for The Boxcar Lilies at the Bell Street Chapel Coffee House, Providence RI, on 9/6. Builder Of The House and Heather Styka share billing at The Hive, in Kennebunk, ME, 8/24. Ronnie Fauss’s vocal delivery reminds me of Springsteen. Just a bit. Segment 5 starts and ends with live songs. We also hear what I regard as the signature song from The Keller Sisters, from their new EP. This, alongside some timely summer tunes.
