PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about January 6 and will be available
for about 1 year. Remember, even if you miss hearing a show the week I
record, you can always find it within the FeedPlayer’s archive of older
shows. Owing to schedule demands, I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon
as possible thereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top
indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands. Each week through my January shows I’m airing tracks from The 1861 Project,
a series that touches upon the Civil War experience. We’re up to Volume 2:
From The Famine To The Front. This collection of original music recalls
those families with Scottish and Irish ties who fought in the war. From the
liner notes “Every singer, player and writer on this album has a strong
connection to Ireland, by ancestry, birth, or just by heart”. More about
this fascinating series at www.1861project.com

On 12/26/12 at 2pm ET I will do a COUNTDOWN exclusively on Twitter (not an audio/video event), synchcronized to Facebook, as I will announce the top 100 artists of the year. I plan to also announce then the winner of the title of Best New
Artist, top 10 albums of the year, and the updated charts for the quarter
and for all time (years 2003 to present). Publicize the event by using the Twitter hashtag #radiocbluetop100

Long-time listeners, even some of you new ones, will recognize these names: Andy Friedman. Amy Speace. Natalia Zukerman. Rachael Sage. Mark Erelli. Hungrytown. Vance Gilbert. Each are busy touring artists. Each are very communicative to their fans, directly or otherise. And each have been named Radio Crystal Blue Artists of the Year in the past. Will there be a repeat winner? Or will someone new claim the title? I will reveal all in the above-mentioned COUNTDOWN next week. Also I will reveal the full extent of several charts, after the event, on my website.
COVERAGE: 3-4 times a month I go out to Philly-area gigs to do photos, some
video, and a write-up on my website afterward. I do this for free, tho at
some point in the future I might want to barter this work or be simply paid.NEXT shows I’m covering:
12/29 Ray G. Ward performing at Milkboy Coffee in Ardmore, PA www.raygward.com

RCB REVIEW from this week’s shows:
RCB proper: Once again I recite Jack Kerouac’s 1961 short story about Christmas in Lowell MA, set in 1932. The music of Greg Lake and Enya both reference Christmas rain instead of snow. Received a ton of music by songwriters and bands this year that got their own segments. My favorites that aired this year were songs by Vegas With Randolph, Roy Schneider, and Tracy Newman (she of The Reinforcements. New music aired this week by South Philly’s own Ryan Tennis, Delorentos (Dublin alternative rockers), and Oliver Sean (Goa). Achilles Wheel’s tune “This Is Life” runs 8 minutes. David Wilcox has a humorous song about the apocalypse, spun here in tandem with a concert to celebrate the end of days. That concert was on Thursday in Asheville, NC. John Brodeur, Chris Riffle, & The Universal Thump shared billing in NYC on 12/18. All were aired in segment 3. Final segment include ‘my’ holiday songs..some which are recognized as such, others with rather obscure sources and settings. Returned to airing bagpipes to close another year.
