NEXT SHOW will be published on or about December 11 and will be available for about 1 year. I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon as possible
thereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands. RCB Novus Ordo is a separate podcast with 6 songs, one each from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you the backstory of each artist. The next edition of RCB Novus Ordo will be the final one for the year. The library is a bit thin and a few weeks off may help to bring the supply up again.
I typically wrap up programming for the final show of the year very early, to allow myself time to do the hardcore stats that will determine who ranked the best for the quarter. The quarterly charts generate the Top 100 that you see on the Chart page of my website. This year I may have my work cut out for me, having lost my quarterly stats with the loss of my older hard drive. I must work from scratch to get all this done. Nevertheless, I will produce a countdown event on Twitter as I did last year just after Christmas, unveiling the results.
A good deal of holiday music has rolled in this year. All of the music that makes the cut will air on my final show of the year, slated for the week of December 15, and archived for a year as usual. I will continue to take inquiries until December 12.
RCB Novus Ordo: Poor Old Shine is an exciting roots music group, who released their debut album for the Signature Sounds label. Lou Dominguez muses on politics and social issues with his new album, produced by John Jennings. John was producer for Lara Herscovitch’s last several albums. John McCutcheon’s album 22 Days closes with the titular song, referencing the ficitional account Sarajevan cellist Vedran Smailovic and the man’s gesture of song in the wake of the siege in his city. I faintly recalled Andrew Calhoun’s reference to Smailovic on his own acoustic effort, “Grapevine”. As for John, how can you beat having the domain folkmusic.com ?
