PROGRAMMING:
NEXT SHOW will be published on or about January 30 and will be available for about 1 year. Remember, even if you miss hearing a show the week I record, you can always find it within the FeedPlayer’s archive of older shows. Owing to schedule demands, I usually publish on Wednesdays or as soon as possiblethereafter. You will hear music in several segments of top
indie/DIY/underground songwriters and bands.

RCB Novus Ordo returns as a separate podcast with 10 (ten) songs, one each
from a brand new recording. I spin the music and give you some backstory of
each.

The 1/27 podcast is the final one that I’ll be airing tracks from The 1861 Project,
a series that touches upon the Civil War experience. We’re up to Volume 2:
From The Famine To The Front. This collection of original music recalls
those families with Scottish and Irish ties who fought in the war. From the
liner notes “Every singer, player and writer on this album has a strong
connection to Ireland, by ancestry, birth, or just by heart”. More about
this fascinating series at www.1861project.com

LIVE EVENT COVERAGE: I’m planning to cover 1 or 2 events a month in Philly.I do writeups of shows on my website, and share most photos on Facebook, plus video on YouTube.

Here is the latest review, from The Legendary Dobbs, 1/25

So far there’s one possible show for me to attend in February, and I’m looking for at 2 more to cover during that month, as well as one before 1/30.

RCB REVIEW (the annotated version):
RCB Novus Ordo: Robert Bobby’s re-released “Today!” album starts us off. Sidewalk Dave is a character and a half, with a concept album about romance reflected in the mating dance of bees. I know. Imani Coppola returns with a spacey dark tune. Patrick Brooks tells a ghost story in a song from his latest.

RCB proper: Hearing of the passing of bassist Michael Dunn, I opened with music from the time he was in Professor Louie & The Crowmatix’s band. Segment 1 starts personal and stays there, all about the first person. the matthew show is heard from once again, with a new album in tow, recorded at Sun Studios. Brand new music spun in a troika, all contemporary sounds with strings and beats (Victoria Love, LiLi Roquelin, Shara Strand). Segment 2: Brother Joscephus & The Love Revival Revolution Orchestra sharing bill with The Steel Wheels are part of this weekend’s Ann Arbor Folk Festival. Another new song from Bern & The Brights comes off as, well, bright. More brand new music, and another troika, from Dubious Ranger (whom I thought had broken up some time ago), V-Device from Italy, and Franklin’s Key (not from Philly, but Los Angeles). Segment 3: Got jazzy on you with The Brehms, then 2 songs in French. First was something of a wedding song by Marci Geller, and then a song of longing by David Garlitz, yet another new voice on this program. Carolann Solebello shared billing with The Kennedys on Saturday 1/26 in Titusville NJ, then with The YaYas on February 9 in Westport CT. Segment 4: Vance Gilbert & Patti DeRosa were at Me & Thee Coffeehouse in Marblehead MA on 1/25. Vance includes a Hall & Oates cover at the end of his album “Old White Men” with a brief reprise of the opening song “Boy On A Train” which I then spun in full.
